6 months on…
Rosemarie’s Pantry has been trading for 6 months now; there’s been some highs and some lows like there is with any business but based on your feedback I am certain you have been enjoying the cake!
I’ve tried to make my bakes seasonal using fruits from the garden to add flavour and I’m looking forward creating more autumnal cakes and then Christmassy flavours as the year comes to an end.
I started Rosemarie’s Pantry so I could use the sales from my baking to support young people in the Outer Hebrides, and I was thrilled to be able to make the first donation to Leverburgh Youth Café today.
The youth café is run by the Harris Voluntary Service (www.harris.vs.org) and they provide support for young people and parents/carers who struggle with binge drinking, substance misuse and risk taking behaviours as well as prevention and education measures.
The youth café provides a safe place for the young people of South Harris to come together and participate in activities like music, board games, computer and pool. Leverburgh (Obbe) is the second largest settlement on Harris; a real hub for the community with a brilliant shop, restaurant, butty bus and bustling pier which hosts an RNLI station.
I am planning a trip back to Harris in October, and looking forward to cosy nights by the fire and snuggling on the sofa watching the waves after some brisk walks along the beach! Going to Harris is always like returning home, and it’s nice to see old friends and refresh the soul – I do think there is something therapeutic about being by the sea!
I have some new products in the pipeline for Christmas but also a few all year-round ideas to – so make sure to look out for them!
Thank you so much for all your support so far, I appreciate it so much. It makes my day when you like a photo or take the time to comment, I love seeing and hearing about how you are enjoying my creations, and I’m thrilled to have been able to donate to such an important project! Keep eating cake 🙂
